2014 Kirkland Signature Series Willamette Valley Pinot NoirHere’s a wine that’s always a personal favorite and a popular one among readers, the KS Willamette Pinot, which comes in at $14.99, a bargain price for Pinots from this area and a pretty nice wine this year as well.

I found this wine to be incredibly well balanced and interesting, especially considering it in relation to other Pinots priced this low.  You just can’t find many decent drinkable Pinots in this range, but I’d definitely put this one on the list, a sentiment I’ve felt in prior vintages, including the 2012 which I gave 89 points.

The 2014 is really interesting on the nose, floral, perfume with red cherry; flavors of red cherry and strawberry into dark fruit, blueberry and cola; finishes pleasant, a touch of oak, white pepper, and plum lingering in the mouth.  I found the wine really started to show itself after an hour decant, so open this one up a bit before you enjoy it.  Food pairings can be almost anything, which is just one other reason I enjoy Pinots, and Oregon Pinot at that.

All in all, solid Kirkland offering, easy drinking, good value at this price point for Willamette Pinot.
